: Pet Loss: Help in a Time of Need
Our animal companions are members of the family and often have a considerable presence in our lives and in our hearts. The term "man’s best friend" brings to mind unconditional love, faithful companionship, and complete acceptance. With this capacity to love our pet, comes the necessity to grieve when that "best friend" dies. The death of an animal companion naturally brings up feelings of grief and loss similar to when any beloved friend or family member dies. We offer links to resources below in helping with your loss. And if we can be of any further help, please do not hesitate to contact us.
When your pet has a terminal illness and has lost his or her quality of life, euthanasia may be the last thing you want to think about. Considerations should include refusal to eat or drink, pain despite taking pain medication prescribed by your veterinarian, and loss of bladder or bowel control. At this time your pet’s comfort and wellbeing is our most important goal.
Many pet owners want to stay with their pet during this procedure, while others prefer to say their good bye ahead of time.
At we offer three options for handling your pet’s remains:
- You may take your pet home for a private burial
- We can help your arrange a private cremation for your pet with ashes returned to you, usually within 5-7 days.
- We can handle your pet’s remains, through a communal cremation.
Our staff members are also pet owners and, therefore, they understand the bond between humans and animals and the difficulty of losing a cherished pet. We will do everything possible to help you through this decision and is available to talk to you about the euthanasia process before you come in for the service, so that you will understand what to expect.
